Filmvorführung der indischen Dokumentation "An Insignificant Man"
The grassroots activist Arvind Kejriwal's struggle to transform Indian democracy without compromising his promises.
India is the world's largest democracy, but there are only two parties to choose from. Arvind Kejriwal decided to do something about it. When he first started the Common Man's Party, there was nobody who thought he had a chance – but in a short period of time Kejriwal's promises of fighting corruption and providing cheap power to the people earned him a large wave of support. But the higher you fly, the stronger the resistance, and the question is whether Kejriwal can come to power in Delhi without compromising his own ideals. 'An Insignificant Man' is made from 400 hours of material shot over two years, and in line with Kejriwal's own spirit the film's two directors Khusboo Ranka and Vinay Shukla have had unrestricted access to him, allowing them to document the complex and at times dirty power games behind the scenes. Experience democracy in action in a film about an insignificant man, who ended up making a huge difference.
'An Insignificant Man' is a 2017 Hindi/English Indian political thriller directed by Khushboo Ranka and Vinay Shukla and produced by filmmaker Anand Gandhi (known for his film Ship of Theseus), and is about the rise of anti-corruption protests in India and the formation and rise to power of the Aam Aadmi Party (Common Man's Party). The film received a standing ovation at its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and has gone on to have sold out screenings at major festival across the world including the BFI London Film Festival & Busan International Film Festival.
